Online therapy includes using any form of electronic or digital communication media and software application that is not face-to-face e.g. Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, Google Meet, telephone, email and text etc. It can be in the form of video, audio or electronic mail/text. It is sometimes called e-therapy.

Context

You are seeking my professional services for personal therapy and not undertaking research for private use or publication. You accept that the session or session booking may be terminated without notice or reimbursement if Acorn Transformative Therapy should determine that the consultation is being used for any reason other than personal therapy. You agree to submit only true and accurate information and will not omit any information that might be significant in your treatment.

  • You are not feeling suicidal (please contact The Samaritans).

  • You are not under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs prior to starting your consultation.

  • You are not under the supervision of a psychiatrist or suffering from any diagnosed psychiatric condition, psychological illness or epilepsy.

Advance payment for online therapy sessions

Online therapy appointments require full payment at the time of booking for the mutually agreed appointment.

Duration of online therapy sessions

Online therapy sessions are 1 hour.

Electronic media malfunction or failure

Acorn Transformative Therapy is not responsible for direct or consequential loss due to internet service failure or electronic media malfunction. No refunds are given when technological malfunction or failure is on part of the client.

Where there are technological malfunctions on Acorn Transformative Therapy’s part, reconnections will be attempted during the allotted appointment time. In the event of a complete technological failure on my part, the appointment will be rescheduled to a mutually agreeable time to complete the remaining time left in the session. Offline contact details can be used for the remaining treatment where it is reasonably possible and mutually agreed.

Cancellation policy

48 hours notice is required for any appointment changes including cancellation. Any changes made within the 24 hour notice period will be charged at the full session rate. Non attendance will also be charged at full session rate.

Online confidentiality

All written information taken before, during and after your therapy is completely confidential. Most online communication media is encrypted and there may only be a security breach if one of the participating computers (or other hardware) contains a virus/trojan/malware. Acorn Transformative Therapy uses updated anti-virus and anti-malware software to reduce the likelihood of any security breach. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient updated internet security measures in place to maintain confidentiality on your behalf.

Online therapy disclaimer

A well-motivated client is very likely to achieve realistic goals with online therapy. However, it is unethical for a therapist to guarantee a cure. The control of thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behaviours always reside within the client. No patient is “made” to do anything against their will using hypnosis or therapy. Acorn Transformative Therapy guarantees to apply her training, expertise and experience to your issues with the aim of achieving agreed goals in a reasonable time as possible. Estimates of the number of sessions required to treat a condition given at the inquiry stage or during the first consultation, are given on the basis of the information presented at that time. Estimates are also made on the basis of treatment being given to previous patients with differing case histories. Hence each patient and the causes of their condition are unique. Estimates are only rough guidelines and are subject to change.
